PHI IOTA SCHOLARSHIPS

Phi Iota Chapter, an Unincorporated Association of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. presents the Phi Iota Chapter, the Dr. George M. Greene and the Dr. Benjamin M. Harrison Scholarship applications for the 2024 -2025 Academic Year.

The OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY, INCORPORATED was founded in 1911 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Omega Psi Phi was the first black Fraternity to be founded on the campus of a historically Black University.

The members of Phi Iota Chapter are very committed to our Fraternity’s Cardinal Principals: Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift.

In keeping with the Cardinal Principle of Scholarship, our annual scholarship application process promotes academic excellence and community service among college bound high school seniors and college students.

This year we will award 5 financial scholarships to worthy students from our local community in need of financial assistance to attend college.

The deadline to apply is 11:59 pm, March 29, 2024

Scholarship Application Requirements: 

  • Application
  • Resume
  • Recommendation Letter (2)
  • Unofficial Transcript(s) (Finalist will have to submit official transcripts)
  • Essay
    • The essay must be a minimum of 500 words in length, original and neither previously published nor secured by copyright and must address the five questions asked for that particular scholarship.
    • Essays will be rated on the following criteria:
      • Development of Topic: enough information for understanding the topic
      • Progression: logical flow of information from beginning to end
      • Readability: holds reader’s attention
      • Grammar: correct sentence construction
      • Spelling and Punctuation

Completed application package must be received by March 29, 2024.

  • Any application received after the above date will not be considered.
  • Awards will be announced on or about April 6, 2024, and the decisions of Phi Iota Chapter will be final.
  • The amount and number of awards will be determined by Phi Iota Chapter.
  • Awards will be submitted to each winner, upon written verification from an institution of higher education that the individual has enrolled. Actual enrollment (not just acceptance) is required.
  • Awards must be claimed within 12 months after the announcement date.
